Premium decay heatmap
Why this matters for crypto options
Deribit premiums are coin-margined — decay shows up in BTC/ETH terms, not INR. Tracking mark-price change since UTC-day open highlights where writers are harvesting theta through the 24/7 session.
How to read the grid
- Green (+) — mark price fell vs UTC-day open (decay).
- Red (−) — mark price rose (IV expansion or intrinsic gain).
- ATM row highlighted — usually the richest time value.
Methodology
Mark price from archived Deribit snapshots; open = first snapshot on the UTC calendar day. Same strike may combine multiple expiries — dominant mark per side from highest-OI expiry leg. See OI analysis and index heatmap for comparison.
Mark price vs last trade?
Deribit archive stores mark price, not last trade — smoother for illiquid strikes, standard for IV/Greeks on Deribit.
